Your individual session does not require a predefined procedure—this space is designed for you to freely present your personal, employment, or legal situation. During the consultation, our lawyers will assess your case in order to develop an appropriate legal strategy, whether for routine immigration matters (temporary visas, permanent residence, or citizenship) or for complex legal proceedings, such as asylum claims, specialized legal opinions, inadmissibility reviews or entry bans, and legal representation before immigration tribunals and Canadian courts.
You will receive thorough, personalized legal guidance to address your case with full legal support.
INITIAL CONSULTATION POLICY.
The initial consultation is a legal meeting intended to assess your situation, answer your questions, and discuss the immigration options that may be available to you.
- Booking and payment.
Full payment is required to confirm your consultation booking. Once the appointment is confirmed, a time slot is reserved exclusively for you.
- Cancellation or rescheduling by the Client.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your consultation, we ask that you notify us as soon as possible by email at info@giroux-oconnor.ca
All rescheduling requests are subject to the firm’s availability.
When a consultation is cancelled or rescheduled, the consultation fee already paid remains applicable to that consultation. To schedule a new appointment date, the client must contact the firm within six (6) months of the original appointment date.
If the client does not contact the firm within that period or repeatedly fails to attend rescheduled appointments, the firm may consider the file administratively closed. Any new consultation may then require a new booking and payment of the fees applicable at the time of booking.
- Cancellation or rescheduling by the Firm.
In exceptional circumstances, the firm may need to reschedule a consultation or assign it to another qualified lawyer on our team.
If the client prefers not to meet with the substitute lawyer, the client may choose between a new appointment date or a refund of any unused consultation fees.
- Scope of the consultation.
The consultation includes a preliminary assessment of your situation, answers to your questions, and general recommendations based on the information you provide.
The consultation is primarily intended to assess the principal applicant. Where relevant, information relating to a spouse and dependent children may also be considered when directly connected to the same immigration project.
Following the consultation, the firm may provide a brief written summary of the main issues discussed and recommendations made.
- No guarantee of outcome.
Any opinion or recommendation provided during the consultation is based on the information available at the time of the meeting and on the laws, regulations, and policies in force at that time.
No lawyer can guarantee the approval of an application or the issuance of a visa, permit, or immigration status. All decisions remain the sole responsibility of the relevant government authorities.
- Subsequent services.
The initial consultation is a separate legal service. It does not create any obligation for either the client or the firm to continue the professional relationship beyond the consultation.
Any additional services will be governed by a separate written agreement specifying the scope of services and the applicable fees.
The firm will not be considered retained and will not perform any work on your matter unless and until that separate written agreement has been signed.
