Genevieve Brown assists individuals, families, employers, and legal professionals in navigating and understanding Canada’s evolving immigration system. Her approach stands out for delivering practical solutions, diligence, and deep empathy tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Background & Community Engagement.

Her passion for immigration law began while teaching English as a second language to newcomers to Canada and volunteering with the Montreal School Board’s adult education program. She further developed her insight into the unique challenges faced by clients while assisting students with immigration matters during two summers at Concordia University’s Legal Information Clinic.

Academic Qualifications & Honours.

• Juris Doctor (JD) & Licentiate in Law (LLL) – University of Ottawa (LLL awarded cum laude).
• Bachelor of Arts in Sociology – Concordia University (graduated with great distinction).
• Bachelor of Arts in English Literature – University of Toronto.
• Bar Admission: Admitted to the Law Society of Ontario in 2021.

Legal Experience & Research.

Prior to joining Giroux O’Connor Immigration Law, Genevieve completed her articles at a personal injury firm in Ottawa and supported counsel on corporate and litigation matters. In academia, she worked as a legal research assistant for the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa and contributed to the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs (Supplement No. 11, Volume VI).

Beyond Legal Practice.

Genevieve currently resides in Montreal. Outside the office, she can often be found cycling through the city in pursuit of a good latte and croissant or engaging in lively conversations about linguistics and diphthongs (which, as it turns out, are genuinely fascinating).
